Items and Folders are the main areas where you enter content into Blackboard.

Items and folders can be combined in a variety of ways to help chunk up course content and create ease of navigation for students.
Both of these options can be deployed in any content area within Blackboard. Areas are set up for different purposes through the course menu, for more information see Manage Course Menu. Items are small selections of content placed in any area or within a folder and may have items attached to it. A Folder allows for organizing and structuring within the Content area.
1. The process for setting up an Item or a Folder is the same. From the Control Panel, click on the area where you want to place content. For example: you will want to provide content in the Course Documents area:

2. Choose either Item or Folder from the menu at the top of the page.

3. A new window will open. You will need to provide a name for your item or folder, and then provide the text of the content.

4. You also have the option to attach a file, set the availability of the item/folder, track the number of times it is veiwed by students, and choose date and time restrictions for when the item/folder can be viewed. Once you have chosen the options you want, click Submit.

1. From the Control Panel, go to the item/folder you wish to edit or remove. Select either the Modify or Remove button.

2. If you modify the item/folder, you can change all aspects mentioned above. If you remove an item/folder your Internet browser will present a dialog box to confirm your deletion command. If you are sure that this is the resource you want to delete, click OK. If not, click Cancel.
