Blackboard Email Spellcheck

What Has Changed?

Blackboard 7.2 has added a spellchecker to the email information section. Students and instructors now have the ability to spell check email.

What do I Need to Know?

Image 1 shows the Email Information section for Blackboard 6.3 (the old system). Note that the Message section has no way to spell check the message.

Image 2 illustrates the Email Information screen for Blackboard 7.2 (the new system). Note that you now have a spellcheck icon in the lower right corner.

Implications for Teaching and Learning.

The ability to spellcheck email correspondence should result in more professional communications. We suggest you point out the spellcheck feature to students early in the course. If you have language telling them to author their communications in Word or another application, you can certainly leave this verbiage in the course. Other applications have a more robust spell check feature than this version of Bb.
